Meals in a Backpack Gets a Boost Thanks to Delta Dental

Delta DentalThanks to a generous $1,500 grant donation from Delta Dental of Wisconsin Foundation, the Medford Public Schools Meals in a Backpack program received a boost in funding.

For many children living in Taylor County, school meals may be the only meals they eat. Through the Meals in a Backpack program, kids and families in need throughout Taylor County can access food when away from school.

“On behalf of the children and families that are supported through the Meals in a Backpack program, we are so very grateful to Delta Dental Foundation for their generosity,” says Nikki Gripentrog, SOAR Teacher with Medford Public Schools. “Thank you for helping us in our mission to ensure food is on every table in Taylor County.”

As a Meals in a Backpack community partner, United Way of Taylor County submitted for the grant on behalf of the Meals in a Backpack program. Delta Dental’s generous gift helps ensure food security for low-income families and vulnerable populations across the state.

“As our priority is oral health, we know the importance of having nutritious foods such as milk, fruits, and vegetables at the dinner table,” says Megan Tenpas, Community Impact Manager for Delta Dental of Wisconsin Foundation. “We are happy to be part of the solution.”
